Forbidden Review

Forbidden (aka Soul Thief) Demon Trappers #2    By Jana Oliver

Find it on Goodreads:

Find it on Amazon:

Riley's beginning to think being a demon trapper isn't all it's cracked up to be. Her dad's been stolen by a necromancer, her boyfriend's gone all weird and she's getting warm and fuzzy feelings for someone who's seriously bad news. It's tempting to give it all up and try to be normal, but that's not an option. Because the demons have plans for Riley. And they're not the only ones.
Riley Blackthorne is beginning to learn that there are worse things than death by demon. And love is just one of them…
Seventeen-year-old Riley has about had it up to here. After the devastating battle at the Tabernacle, trappers are dead and injured, her boyfriend Simon is gravely injured, and now her beloved late father’s been illegally poached from his grave by a very powerful necromancer. As if that’s not enough, there's Ori, one sizzling hot freelance demon hunter who’s made himself Riley’s unofficial body guard, and Beck, a super over-protective “friend” who acts more like a grouchy granddad.  With all the hassles, Riley’s almost ready to leave Atlanta altogether.
But as Atlanta’s demon count increases, the Vatican finally sends its own Demon Hunters to take care of the city’s “little” problem, and pandemonium breaks loose. Only Riley knows that she might be the center of Hell’s attention: an extremely powerful Grade 5 demon is stalking her, and her luck can't last forever…

What I gave it: 5 outta 5! I loved it!! A LOT!

Where I got it: I Bought the U.K version online at Amazon, because it came out almost a month BEFORE the U.S release!

My thoughts:
First this was my first U.K version of a book! I was easily amused by tiny differences like tire being spelled tyre, or curb as kerb. LOL silly I know but its true!
I waited a LOONGG time for this book since I had received an A.R.C of the first one it felt like forever. I LOOOVED the first book, and was NOT disappointed by the second! Jana Oliver captured my heart with Riley in the first book, but Beck totally dug his way into a permanent spot in the second one! The demon trappers series really does have it all, demons, angels, Mean priests, drunk Bosses, romance, heart break, necromancers, witches, Magic, and even school bullies! If you haven't checked them out yet, I highly recommend it!

The hunger games series review

The Hunger Games

Catching Fire                   BY Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games Summary
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Catching Fire Summary
Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark won the annual competition described in Hunger Games, but the aftermath leaves these victors with no sense of triumph. Instead, they have become the poster boys for a rebellion that they never planned to lead. That new, unwanted status puts them in the bull's-eye for merciless revenge by The Capitol. Catching Fire maintains the adrenaline rush of Suzanne Collins's series launch.

Mockingjay Summary
Young Katniss Everdeen has survived the dreaded Hunger Games not once, but twice, but even now she can find no relief. In fact, the dangers seem to be escalating: President Snow has declared an all-out war on Katniss, her family, her friends, and all the oppressed people of District 12. The thrill-packed final installment of Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy will keep young hearts pounding.

What I gave them: 5 outta 5!! I LOVED these books!!!

Where I got them:  My local Library

My thoughts:
Ok, anyone that knows me knows that I have a REALLY bad habit of judging books by their covers... (i know i know) This was a case of that.... I have seen these books all over the place steadily gaining popularity in the last two years but could not bring my self to even pick one up and flip through it, because of the plain Blah covers that did not even the tiniest appeal to me.  This was MY loss!! Finally after so many blogs and so many friends RAVED about this series (and it's being made into a movie) I decided I better at least check it out and give it a fair chance... Well i was instantly hooked before i even got passed the first two pages of the First Book! I was irreversibly in love before Katniss' first day in the area was over! I am shamed to say that my prejudice towards book covers has done me in again! I should have been a hunger games fan long ago! And since I was so behind in reading these I don't mind putting these tiny spoilers: My heart broke when poor little Rue was killed.. NO .. MURDERED! I don't care the situation.. these poor kids are forced to MURDER one another!
I was out right SHOCKED when the Quarter Quell was announced! It was so cruel and unfair! Like the Games themselves were not bad enough, to Force passed victors back in aged and mentally disabled.. was inhuman. But what broke me.. really and truly was in the end of Mockingjay when that stupid cat with his folded down ears and bad attitude, showed up to find Prim . When poor Buttercup and Katniss wailed together... I bawled! (just thinking of it again now is making me cry) I wish the books kept on coming, but at the same time it was a perfect ending to an amazing story!

Winter's Shadow Review

Find it on Goodreads:

    Blake Duchamp...
He's all that Winter Adams can think of. Ever since their fateful meeting at Pilgrim's Lament. Ever since he looked at her with those emerald eyes. Ever since he saved her life.
But Blake isn't all that he seems. There is a strangeness about him, something dark and otherworldly. Something dangerous. In his attic is a secret he would kill to defend, but Winter seems to have a special ability to make him forget his duty. And he is her only protection against the gathering darkness.
The only problem is, to protect Winter, Blake must risk exposing her to an even greater danger. Himself.

What I gave It: 5 outta 5!! I LOVED IT!!

Where I got It: Paranormal Wastelands bloggerhood of the traveling book tour!

My Thoughts:
This book is FANTASTIC! Sadly though it is not available in the U.S yet! We need to get the word out that we want it though! This was totally new, unlike so many books that keep coming out telling and retelling the same stories with different characters. I don't want to give any spoilers.. so I'll just say its a gripping supernatural read that I could not put down! I really felt for Winter (who's parents have died turning her world upside down just 6 months earlier) who again has her whole changed when she is almost killed when a roof comes crashing down around her! I really hope this book gets More U.S exposure I really Believe it will be a huge HIT!

The Demon Lover Review

The Demon Lover by Juliet Dark

I gasped . . . or tried to. My mouth opened, but I couldn’t draw breath. . . . His lips, pearly wet, parted and he blew into my mouth. My lungs expanded beneath his weight. When I exhaled he sucked in my breath and his weight turned from cold marble into warm living flesh.

Since accepting a teaching position at remote Fairwick College in upstate New York, Callie McFay has experienced the same disturbingly erotic dream every night: A mist enters her bedroom, then takes the shape of a virile, seductive stranger who proceeds to ravish her in the most toe-curling, wholly satisfying ways possible. Perhaps these dreams are the result of writing her bestselling book, The Sex Lives of Demon Lovers. After all, Callie’s lifelong passion is the intersection of lurid fairy tales and Gothic literature—which is why she finds herself at Fairwick’s renowned folklore department, living in a once-stately Victorian house that, at first sight, seemed to call her name.

But Callie soon realizes that her dreams are alarmingly real. She has a demon lover—an incubus—and he will seduce her, pleasure her, and eventually suck the very life from her. Then Callie makes another startling discovery: He’s not the only mythical creature in Fairwick. As the tenured witches of the college and the resident fairies in the surrounding woods prepare to cast out the incubus, Callie must accomplish something infinitely more difficult—banishing this demon lover from her heart.

What I gave it: 4/5 Stars!!!

Where I got it: NetGalley

My Thoughts:

This books plot line was really good, but the book started out really slow and eventually started to pick up the pace after a couple hundred pages in. That was my only problem with it, but the book was awesome! Callie was a filled out character, and she had a mind of her own, but became a little obsessive with the Incubus (which was a little creepy. Besides that, it made the book full of suspension and left you hanging, till you got you're next fix.

I know this is a short review, but I enjoyed this book and I recommend it, it's just I am super tired!
